Description:Based in Washington, DC and reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for assisting with the following tasks:
Period end close including review of balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and journal entries prepared by staff accountants
Review of employee expense reports as well as administrative responsibilities for our expense report system, Concur
Review entry of A/P invoices for non-COGS vendors such as utilities, repairs and maintenance, fixed assets, rent, legal expenses, etc.
Treasury function, including cash management and vendor payments
Financial statement preparation (consolidated and store level) as well as supporting detail schedules, charts, graphs, etc for monthly finance meeting
Preparation of schedules/documents for the annual audit and review of audit support prepared by staff accountants
Technical accounting research
Various tasks as delegated by the Controller such as data collection and analysis, process improvements, and implementation of internal controls
Requirements:The ideal candidate possesses:
A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA license is a plus
Prior accounting experience (3-6 years)
Prior experience managing staff (1-3 years)
Familiarity with Excel and its functions
Ability to pick up on computer programs quickly
Attention to detail
Familiarity with the retail/restaurant industry
Ability to work in a team environment and be a team player
